FAQ

  • Your pet’s wellbeing and safety are of paramount importance to me as well as to you. Prior to pet sitting, I offer a free First Date (of up to 30 mins) where I have an opportunity to meet you and your pup. During this time I’ll take notes on special requirements and preferences. No two dogs are the same and it is important to ensure that both you and your pet feel comfortable.

Because your pet will be taken care of in their familiar home environment, it is far less likely that they will pick up any illnesses that are often transmitted between animals when boarded in shared facilities.

Each of my packages come with daily updates and images of your dog which can be sent to you via text twice per day (and you can follow my Instagram stories to see your pet in real time @petsittingnyc).

  • When I am pet sitting, aside from any short local outings, I am almost always with your pet. I genuinely love being around animals so your pet won't be lonely! I like to give a lot of TLC to the pets in my care, whilst also being considerate of their space.

  • No, absolutely not. I do not have any other guests visiting your property whilst I am pet sitting (with the exception of my husband occasionally dropping off items for me). Client confidentiality is very important to me, as is having respect for your home environment. Also, no guests means that your pet does not have to deal with any further anxieties regarding strangers invading their space.

  • Definitely. It is my job to ensure that your pet has the minimum amount of disruption to their regular routine, which also includes mealtimes. I will not feed your pet anything other than their normal diet and I ask that you leave the required amount of food/treats that your pet will need. I always ensure that fresh water is available for your pet at all times. (During the summer months I carry a portable bowl on dog walks so your pet can stay hydrated).

  • No. When outside, your dog will stay on the leash at all times.

  • Yes, as long as they are happy to go out, walks will still take place. Many dogs are not big fans of rain or snow (like us humans!) but there are options available for those that are unwilling to get wet, such as hall play or indoor fetch. My main focus is that your dog enjoys the time I spend with them and that they are exercised, safe and happy.

  • All pet sitting is paid for in advance via Venmo, Zelle or cash.

A 50% deposit is required to secure the booking. The remaining 50% is paid in full prior to pet sitting commencing.

Cancellations that take place less than 10 days prior to the booking commencement date will not have deposits refunded.

For major holidays and peak times a non-refundable 50% deposit is required.

Please be advised that a 20% holiday surcharge applies on the following holidays: Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Weekend (Thursday through Sunday), Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.

  • Yes, my insurance is renewed annually via Pet Sitters Associates and I am happy to show a copy of my certification upon request.

  • Yes, I have worked with and recommend Shelby Semel Dog Training. Although I’m not a trainer, I will always try to be consistent with any training your pup is currently undertaking, as long as it focuses on positive reinforcement.

  • Yes! Whilst the majority of my pet sitting is based in Manhattan, I happily accept requests for pups in other areas/states if travel costs and travel time are fully compensated, including any taxis to train/airport.

Pet sitting rate is $205 per 24 hrs for 3 x 30 minute walks.

Please reach out if you have a requirement.
